RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – About 100 secondary school Muslim students in Rubirizi District have concluded a comprehensive three-day leadership and spiritual training workshop.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The empowering event, held at the serene Ryeru Girls School campus in Rutoto Sub-county, was organized by the Bunyaruguru Muslim Youth Development Association (BMYDA). The workshop culminated on Monday, December 23rd, 2024.
Sheikh Zakaria Kambugu, the Project Coordinator, stated that the workshop aimed to mold the youth into principled leaders and ambassadors of positive change.
He revealed its core objectives were to equip students with leadership skills for community transformation, foster unity through cultural exchange, strengthen Islamic values through meaningful experiences, and support community development via education, collaboration, and innovation.
Sheikh Kambugu further emphasized that the initiative was about building a foundation for sustainable development from the grassroots.
“We are investing in the architects of our future. By empowering these young minds with skill and faith, we are building a stronger, more resilient community,” he noted.
Sheikh Kisheka Iddi Abdulahuman urged the students to become role models, spreading Islamic teachings with wisdom and exemplary conduct.
He also stressed the importance of applying knowledge respectfully and upholding high moral discipline to drive positive societal change.
The Rubirizi Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Kinene Ahamedi, praised the initiative as a vital investment in the district’s social fabric. He stated it would help youth deepen their faith, embrace discipline, and hone leadership skills.
He added that the training would build a strong network of young leaders equipped for effective public preaching, mindset change, and combating issues like early marriage and negative behaviors.
The enthusiastic participants left equipped not just with certificates, but with a renewed sense of purpose, a network of like-minded peers, and a practical toolkit to lead with faith and integrity.
