This message was central to the spirited dedication ceremony held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, for 558 candidates at St. Thomas Vocational Secondary School in Bururuma, Rutoto Sub-county.

The group comprised 466 S.4 and 92 S.6 students. The dedication mass, a solemn event filled with prayer and encouragement, saw school administrators and religious leaders impart crucial final advice to the students poised to sit for their final papers.

The School’s Headteacher, Rev. Fr. Charles Niwagaba, sounded the central theme of the day, urging the candidates to love God, be disciplined, hardworking, and to trust in themselves as vessels of knowledge and wisdom.

He reminded candidates to uphold the school’s culture and core values of Fear of God, Academic Excellence, Discipline, and Smartness, emphasizing education’s power to break the cycles of poverty and hunger in the community.

The main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Vincent Mucunguzi, offered practical and spiritual counsel. He advised candidates to set clear targets, remain focused, and ensure their actions align with their goals.

He also issued a poignant warning to parents, urging them to maintain constant prayer and spiritual vigilance for their children, emphasizing that there are those who would wish to see them fail.

“Trust God, have a goal and a strategy, be confident, and avoid simple mistakes. Be relaxed, be humble, be creative, and have a plan for your answers before you write. Haters are not seated; they are watching, hoping for your failure,” Fr. Mucunguzi advised.

Some of the dedicated candidates, including Natukunda Vivian, Kyosimire Nazifa, and Kobusingye Mary, expressed their gratitude to the school’s top management, led by Rev. Niwagaba, for the invaluable knowledge, support, and spiritual guidance.

The candidates affirmed their full preparedness for the final revision period, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve exceptional results and gratitude for their parents’ financial support, which provided the essential foundation for their success.

With their spirits lifted and their focus sharpened, the candidates of St. Thomas Vocational School now enter the final phase of their preparation, carrying with them the blessings and counsel of the dedication.
