KAMPALA, UGANDA – The Executive Director of the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), Dr. Ezra Muhumuza, has announced significant strides in the country’s industrialization drive, citing the creation of more than 100,000 jobs and a dramatic 68.5% surge in exports.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Barirega Akankwasah, the Executive Director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), at the Strategic Hub for Industrial Park Development (SHIPU) offices, with the primary agenda of formulating strategies to keep the public well-informed about government accomplishments.
Detailing the industrial progress, Dr. Muhumuza reported that 12 of 19 planned skills hubs are now operational, having trained 60,000 youths, alongside the establishment of over 294 large-scale industries.
“Uganda has made remarkable progress in industrialization, with 12 out of 19 planned skills hubs already established, training about 60,000 youths. We have created over 294 large industries, generating more than 100,000 jobs, spurring regional industrial growth, and boosting exports by 68.5%,” Dr. Muhumuza stated.
He further emphasized that innovation commercialization and industrial value addition remain the government’s top priorities to sustain the current growth.
The gathering underscored a coordinated push to amplify the narrative of national development, bringing together key figures from Uganda’s economic and industrial sectors.
Attendees included Canon Benson Turamye, Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA); Mr. Edward Katende, Executive Director of the Uganda Development Forum (UDF); Dr. Patrick Birungi, Executive Director of the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC); and Eng. Simon Kaijuka, Chief Executive Officer of the National Housing and Construction Company (NHCC).
The convergence of these agency leaders signals a unified effort to translate policy successes into public awareness, aiming to build confidence in the government’s economic transformation agenda.
