KASESE, UGANDA – Police in Kasese District have successfully rescued an 11-month-old baby girl who was abducted from her caretaker on Friday afternoon.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The suspect, now in custody, has been identified as Masiika Robinah, 30, who is linked to the alleged abduction of the infant from a residence in Base Camp Lower Cell, Central Division.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 27, at around 1:30 PM when the suspect allegedly took the infant from her housemaid caretaker and fled to an unknown location without the knowledge or consent of the child’s father, Masereka David.
Despite resistance from the housemaid, the suspect, Masiika, reportedly insisted on taking the child, promising to return her shortly.
Rwenzori East regional police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed that after the suspect failed to return the child, the alarmed caretaker alerted the area Local Council 1 (LC1) Chairperson, who swiftly reported the matter to Kasese Central Police Station (CPS).
“A team of police officers from Kasese CPS responded swiftly and conducted a thorough search operation in collaboration with vigilant community members.This joint effort led to the suspect being traced, the safe rescue of the juvenile, and the subsequent arrest of Masiika Robinah,” said SP Tumushime.
Following the rescue, the child has been medically checked and reunited with her family as the suspect remains in custody during the ongoing investigation.
Tumushime cautioned parents to maintain vigilance, supervise minors closely, report incidents to police immediately, keep important emergency contacts handy, and have recent photographs of their children for easy identification.
