The donation of iron sheets from Hon. Boaz Atwijukire was delivered in a ceremony held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Kagarama Trading Centre. Each affected household received five iron sheets to aid in rebuilding their homes.
In his remarks, Hon. Boaz emphasized the need for unity and collective responsibility in the community. He also challenged residents to adopt climate-smart farming practices to protect their gardens from future disasters.
“After expressing deep sympathy to the victims and pledging continued support, I must also urge our community to embrace new farming methods to safeguard our food security,” Hon. Boaz stated.
One of the beneficiaries, Madam Kyokutamba Anet, the women’s chairperson of Rugarama Village, thanked Hon. Boaz for his generosity and timely intervention, describing his gesture as a beacon of hope.
She further called upon the government and development partners to extend more assistance, warning that families in Kyabakara risk sliding deeper into hunger and poverty without additional support.
Madam Turyamusiima Grolius, the coordinator for Team Boaz, underscored the importance of fairness and transparency in the distribution exercise, noting that every affected household received an equal share.
She emphasized that the intervention was part of Team Boaz’s emergency response to restore dignity and hope and promised continued resource mobilization to ensure all victims receive support.
Meanwhile, Hon. Kambendiho Godfrey, the District Vice Chairperson for Rubirizi who also serves as a District Councillor representing Kyabakara Sub-county, thanked Hon. Boaz for the hand and asked other leaders and institutions to come on board and help the affected families in Kyabakara Sub-county.
Hon. Godfrey directed local leaders to continue registering all affected families and submit their details to the district for more government relief. He also urged the affected families to actively ensure their names are registered.
“We often hear that when relief comes, some people miss out because they were not properly registered. I am directing everyone to participate in this exercise to avoid such gaps,” Hon. Godfrey said.
