KANUNGU, UGANDA – The Deputy RDC of Kanungu District, Mr. Ahimbisibwe Gad Rujaju, strongly encouraged youth leaders to actively join and support government programs designed for their benefit, such as the National Development Plan (NDP III).

Addressing the participants, Mr. Rujaju articulated the profound importance of empowering youth leadership, stating that the role young people play is essential for maintaining the peace and security Uganda has enjoyed.
He confirmed that their involvement is crucial for positive change, development, and peace, adding that participation in decision-making leads to better and more honest governance.
“The role young people play is essential for maintaining the peace and security Uganda has enjoyed. Their participation in decision-making is not a choice, but a necessity for better and more honest governance,” said Gad Rujaju.
The meeting enlightened leaders on distinguishing between positive, nation-building actions and harmful subversive activities, while also explaining how government programs can create jobs and improve lives.
With the 2026 elections approaching, discussions also focused on mobilizing youth involvement through the formation of dedicated task forces to support President Museveni’s campaign.
Furthermore, youth leaders were taught about Youth Councils as a formal avenue to gain a voice in local government and contribute to decisions that affect them directly.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the youth leaders to champion these ideals and actively participate in shaping the future of Kanungu District and Uganda at large.
