A severe road accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning when a Toyota Sienta (UBM 447P) veered off the road and crashed into a building at Nyakasanga Trading Center near Me & You Bar, leaving one person injured.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle was coming from Me & You Bar when he lost control while negotiating a corner, leading to the collision.

The violent impact severely damaged the drug shop building, critically injuring an unidentified female adult inside. Authorities have yet to publicly identify either the victim or the driver involved in the collision.

The Officer in Charge of Traffic in Kasese, ASP Araku Sharon, strongly suspects that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The officer further condemned the incident and vowed to pursue legal action against the driver, who remains at large but will face charges of drunk and reckless driving once apprehended.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, officially confirmed working to identify the individuals involved and determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

He assured the concerned residents that a thorough investigation is currently underway, with forensic teams and traffic experts working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident highlights growing concerns over reckless driving and alcohol-related accidents in the region.

Police have reiterated calls for motorists to exercise caution, adhere to traffic laws, and avoid driving under the influence to prevent such tragedies.
