Former Child Rights Advocate Patience Bikashaga Takes Development Fight to Ntungamo Politics

Ntungamo, Uganda – The aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Ntungamo District, Patience Amanya Bikashaga, has reaffirmed her commitment to transforming the district through steadfast service delivery, both socially and economically.

As she campaigns across villages, parishes, sub-counties, and counties in Ntungamo, Bikashaga’s message centers on elevating the district into a model of development and efficient public service.

Hon. Patience holds a Bachelor’s degree in Population Studies from Makerere University’s Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Health from the same institution.

Her academic background equips her with the expertise to address critical issues in health, demographics, and community development.

Hon. Patience of Kagongi, Rugarama in Rushenyi County, has pledged to honor the legacy of her late father, John Bikashanga, former Rugarama Sub-County councilor and key advocate for Ntungamo’s autonomy from Bushenyi, by driving transformative development and improved service delivery across the district.

“Just as my father, John Bikashanga, fought tirelessly for Ntungamo’s autonomy and progress, I am fully committed to not only preserving his remarkable legacy but expanding upon it. Through dedicated service, strategic development initiatives, and accountable leadership, I will ensure Ntungamo achieves new heights of prosperity that would make him proud,” declared Hon. Patience Amanya Bikashaga.

Before venturing into politics, Hon. Patience worked with Echoes of Children Voices, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating in the Busoga region, particularly in Luuka and Kamuli districts.

The organization supports vulnerable women and children affected by sexual and reproductive health challenges, offering guidance to teen mothers and reuniting abandoned girls with their families.

“Having dedicated years to empowering vulnerable women and children through grassroots initiatives, I bring both the expertise and passion needed to deliver transformative change. The skills I’ve honed while working with marginalized communities will now be channeled into uplifting every household in Ntungamo through targeted programs in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment,” Hon. Patience affirmed.

Hon. Patience pledges to focus on three key priorities: upgrading road infrastructure, rehabilitating schools, and solving health facility staffing shortages. “Our struggling health centers need immediate attention to ensure quality care for all,” she emphasized.

As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries approach, setting the stage for the 2026 general elections, Hon. Patience is among the new entrants seeking to bring fresh leadership to Ntungamo.
