The training, held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Nyeikunama Primary School premises, was facilitated by the Ministry of Education and Sports through the sports department.

The workshop, a bi-annual activity held every second term, aimed to update sports teachers on games and sports knowledge, enabling them to promote sports skills among learners.

According to the district sports department, Rukiga district schools are set to participate in football and netball matches in preparation for the upcoming national ball games scheduled for early August in Yumbe district, northern Uganda.

Mr. Baguma Robert, the Rukiga district UPSSA Chairperson, emphasized the importance of the training, stating that sports laws are constantly evolving to keep pace with changing global sports trends.

The district is well-prepared for the competitions, with all necessary funds approved to facilitate participation of all 71 government-aided primary schools under government sponsorship.

According to Kyinkuhaire Allen, the secretary for women UPSSA Rukiga district, the district has budgeted specifically for football and netball matches for under-14 categories.

This holistic approach is expected to not only enhance sporting excellence but also foster creativity, talent development, and all-round growth among learners in Rukiga district.
