The victim, identified as D/Cpl Saturday Sebastian, 38, the scene of crime officer of Rubanda District, was attacked by unknown individuals on May 10, 2025, at around 2:00 am at Ihanga Trading Centre, Ihanga Parish, Bubaare Sub-county.

According to reports, Sebastian was riding his motorcycle, registration number UFZ316X, from Kabale Town back to Rubanda when he was intercepted by two motorcycle riders, each carrying a passenger, totaling four men armed with pangas.

The suspects demanded Sebastian surrender his motorcycle, but he resisted and attempted to flee to a nearby home, where the thugs followed and attacked him with pangas, cutting him on the head, arms, and shoulder.

When the home occupants intervened, the suspects fled the scene, leaving Sebastian seriously injured.

He was subsequently rushed to Rugarama Hospital by a group of Good Samaritans, where he was admitted for medical attention.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, confirmed the incident, stating that a team of police officers from Rubanda Central Police Station visited the scene and documented evidence.

Maate appealed to anyone with information that can lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators to come forward, as investigations continue to bring the suspects to justice.

“Following the incident, our officers at Rubanda Central Police Station swiftly responded to the scene, gathering vital evidence. We kindly appeal to the public for any information that may help identify the suspects, and we urge anyone with relevant details to come forward and cooperate with us in ensuring justice is served,” Maate said.
