This commitment was reiterated during a meeting with Malawi’s Minister of Justice, Hon. Titus Edward Songiso Mvalo, and his delegation at the Parliament of Uganda on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Speaker Among and Minister Mvalo engaged in productive discussions, exchanging ideas on key areas such as inter-parliamentary collaboration, trade, and tourism.

According to Speaker Among, the meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the two nations’ parliaments.

“I met with Malawi’s Minister of Justice, Hon. Titus Edward Songiso Mvalo, and his delegation at the Parliament of Uganda. We together discussed inter-parliamentary collaboration, trade, and tourism, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties between our two parliaments,” said Speaker Among.

Following the engagement, Speaker Among encouraged exchanges in legislative processes between Uganda and Malawi, promoting a deeper understanding of each country’s parliamentary procedures.

The development is expected to foster stronger bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.

Uganda and Malawi have previously engaged in inter-parliamentary activities, including a February benchmarking tour where a Ugandan delegation led by Hon. Dr. Abed Bwanika met with Malawi’s Clerk of Parliament, Fiona Kalemba.

The visit aimed to enhance the Ugandan Committee’s execution of its mandate through knowledge sharing and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
