Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of Education has unveiled a revised Advanced Level curriculum to enhance secondary education quality and relevance.

According to the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), the key changes in the new curriculum will include a shift from an objective-based curriculum to a Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
It will also feature learner-centered teaching approaches, integration of ICT in all subjects, emphasis on practical skills, and introduction of school-based assessments accounting for 20% of the final grade.
New subjects introduced this year include Accounting, Physical Education (P.E), and Information Computer Technology (ICT).
Traditional termly examinations will be replaced by a single school-based summative assessment at the end of the year, focusing on continuous teacher evaluations.
The revised curriculum aims to provide students with a more focused and effective learning experience, preparing them for future academic and professional pursuits.
