Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s National Unity Platform (NUP) Party is taking a bold step against the country’s security forces, planning to sue them over repeated attacks on their offices.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The decision comes after the latest raid on the NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule and the NUP School of Political Leadership at Kamwokya, which was described as the “final straw” by Joel Ssenyonyi, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament.
The raid resulted in the seizure of several items, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation.
NUP Party leaders reported vandalism and destruction, including broken doors, stolen money, taken computers, and cut electricity and internet wires.
However, police spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma said that the security forces had gathered evidence from the NUP office to be presented in court.
Kituuma confirmed an operation at NUP headquarters and another Kamwokya location, citing reports of unauthorized military training.
The NUP Party has consistently accused the security forces of harassing and intimidating their members, and the latest raid is seen as a clear escalation of this trend.
By planning to sue the security forces, the NUP Party is taking a strong stance against what they perceive as blatant abuse of power.
