Kisoro, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has challenged Ugandans to take a more proactive approach in implementing government programs aimed at alleviating poverty.

During his regional tour to assess the Operation Wealth Creation and Parish Development Model (PDM) in Kisoro district, Museveni emphasized the importance of following guidelines and precautions to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Museveni visited Angello Nsekanabo, a farmer from Rutare village, who has benefited from the Operation Wealth Creation program since 2016.

Nsekanabo’s success story illustrates the potential of these programs, as he has grown his cattle herd from one cow to eight and is now able to pay his children’s school fees through milk sales.

The president urged Ugandans to adopt these programs and invest in agriculture to improve their household incomes.

He also stressed the need for agricultural officers to sensitize farmers about diseases affecting maize and potato growth. Due to land fragmentation in Kisoro, Museveni advised residents to plant high-quality crops.

To support Nsekanabo’s farming endeavors, Museveni handed him 12 million shillings in cash and pledged to give him a double cabin car.

On the same tour, the president also provided one million shillings each to 10 women who benefited from the PDM.

Museveni’s message underscores the importance of community participation and responsible implementation of government programs to achieve sustainable poverty reduction and economic growth.
