Ntungamo, Uganda – Hundreds of people have on Monday morning joined Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 401 Brigade Irenga to launch Tarehe Sita activities in Ntungamo Municipality and the district.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Lt Col Gumizamu Kafureeka the Brigade Commander led the force including police and prisons at Ntungamo Municipal grounds through municipal streets, where they were joined by a cross-section of leaders, civil servants, the business community, and market vendors to participate in general cleanliness and sanitation of the area.
Lt Col Kafureeka noted that the Tarehe Sita celebrations and activities are a gesture of togetherness of the forces with the wanainchi whenever they are deployed.
He appreciated the community for supporting the revolution and commended them for their continuous support and cooperation with UPDF in its ongoing operations to pacify the sub-region.

This year’s 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations will take place in the Greater Masaka region under the theme, “Celebrating Pan-African Solidarity and the Peoples’ Sacrifice in Struggle for Freedom and Democracy for Socio-economic Transformation”.
Tarehe Sita is a Swahilli word meaning the sixth day, which in this context is the day of 06th February 1981 when the war to fight the government born out of the disputed 1980 elections, was launched with an attack on Kabamba military barracks.
Speaking at the same occasion, the RDC Ntungamo Byarugaba Isaiah Kanyamahaane commended the UPDF as a people’s army that is trusted nationwide.
Kanyamahaane hailed the business community for embracing the activities of general cleaning, asking them to borrow a leaf from UPDF and do the same in their area of jurisdiction.

The senior health inspector Tumushabe Jovat expressed gratitude to the UPDF for their strategic partnership with the community.
