KAMPALA, UGANDA: Seventeen public health professionals marked a significant milestone in their careers as they graduated from the 9th cohort of the Public Health Fellowship Program (PHFP) Advanced Field Epidemiology Track.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The graduation ceremony, held on January 17, 2025, brought together stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, host institutions, and the public health community to celebrate the achievements of the fellows.
During their 2-year fellowship, the graduates worked on various projects, leading disease outbreak investigations for Sudan Ebola virus, malaria, measles, black water fever, and food poisoning, among others.
They also conducted surveillance data analysis and system evaluations, as well as projects related to HIV, quality improvement, epidemiology, and cost analysis.
The fellows were hosted at priority departments of the Ministry of Health, including the National Malaria Control Division, AIDS Control Program, Public Health Emergency Operation Center, Reproductive Health Division, National Health Laboratories and Diagnostics Services, and the Kampala Capital City Authority.
These host sites provided mentorship and technical guidance to the fellows throughout their fellowship.
The graduation of the 9th cohort of PHFP fellows marks a significant contribution to Uganda’s public health workforce.
These highly trained professionals are equipped to tackle the country’s most pressing health challenges and make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of Ugandans.
