KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu district are holding a suspect under their custody to aid in investigations over the circumstances surrounding the death of a 55 year old man.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The deceased has been identified as Kasheija Emmanuel a resident of Kanungu cell, town ward, Kanungu town council, who is allegedly murdered at unknown night time on Friday.
It’s alleged that the deceased has been staying alone in his house but a known drunkard is also an epileptic and was last seen by his daughter Akankwasa phiona on the 10th January 2025 during day time while drunk at a nearby bar.
Phiona who also operates a bar in his father’s house went back in the morning as usual, and found the father laying against the bed dead and the door open.
According to the Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the daughter of the deceased “Phiona” notified Kyokusiima Alice (Aunt) who also reported the matter to Police.
Maate confirmed to this reporter that the scene of crime was visited, Postmortem was done at the scene and the body handed over to the relatives for a decent burial.
He added that blood stained clothes suspected to be of the deceased were recovered from the nearby bush and one suspect was arrested to aid in investigations as inquiries into the matter continue at hand.
