The raging fire gutted the boys dormitory on 15th November 2024, leaving the students in frustration and ucertainity. However, over the weekend the UHRC came to their help with several Relief items including 200 plates, 200 blankets, 200 bar of soap, 100 Jerricans and 100 buckets.

The UHRC Treasurer Hon. Steven Tashobya appreciated the Government of Uganda led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for creating a good environment for NGOs and allowing Humanitarian organisations to function.

Tashobya said that despite the organization being financially constrained, the government had provided over 10 billion shillings to support the Organization toward the rendering vulnerable services to those in emergency needs.

The Red Cross Society Disaster Manager Mr Brian Kanahe said that they delayed in the process to respond to the Rubaare S.S fire disaster because they were engaged in response to disasters in other parts of the country.

Receiving the assorted relief items, the Rubare Secondary School the headteacher Ms Mpeirwe Monic Atukunda appreciated the Uganda Red Cross Society for the support towards the School.

She noted that they needed more support from well-wishers to reconstruct a new building for accomodation, because the fire gutted dormitory was damaged beyond repair.

Ms Mpeirwe said that they needed construction material such as iron sheets, cement among others to construct the new dormitory.
