KABALE, UGANDA – In a compassionate act of love, Lift Up Jesus Church has donated a cow, sanitary pads, soap, and baby diapers to inmates at Ndorwa Government Prison in Kabale District, as Christmas gifts.

The donations are part of the “Love Your Neighbor Program” by Lift up Jesus where they also donate to marginalized groups including the Batwa Community, People Living with Disabilities, and Single Mothers in Kabale , Rubanda and Kisoro Districts.

The Ndorwa Prison gifts were delivered yesterday, by a team led by Lift Up Jesus Global Ministries Overseer, Bishop Aloysius Kiiza.

The event commenced with a worship service during which Bishop Kiiza delivered a powerful sermon. Following the sermon, 26 inmates accepted Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior.

The message, based on John 3:21, centered on Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus, a respected Pharisee, highlighting the importance of being born again to enter the Kingdom of God. Bishop Kiiza explained that, similarly, accepting Jesus Christ is essential for the Prisoners’ salvation .

“When you’re born again, you are liberated from spiritual bondage. Even if you are in prison, your soul is free, and that is the most important,” he stated.

Bishop Kiiza also highlighted that Lift Up Jesus Church has been running the “Love Your Neighbor” Program for 17 years. Every December 24, the day before Christmas, the church distributes gifts such as cows, along with other essentials, to inmates and staff at Ndorwa Government Prison. The aim, he said, is to give prisoners hope and make them feel valued and loved.

“We believe that prisoners are also God’s children. He still loves them and desires to demonstrate that love through us, regardless of their circumstances,” he remarked.

He further explained that the donated cow was intended to be served as a Christmas meal for inmates and staff. The soap and diapers are designated for female inmates and their babies.

The Deputy Officer in Charge of Ndorwa Prison, ASP Yepusa Emoru, expressed gratitude to Lift Up Jesus Church on behalf of the prison and the government. He urged the church leaders to continue supporting the inmates through spiritual activities such as fellowships and Bible studies.

“Acts of generosity are always appreciated. We thank Lift Up Jesus Church for consistently providing Christmas gifts to our community,” he said.

Additionally, Bishop Kiiza pledged to address the shortage of Bibles among the inmates, who had informed him of the lack of Kifumbira Bibles as well as the King James Version and the English Standard Version, which are vital for Bible study sessions.

Lift Up Jesus Church also runs a weekly fellowship at Ndorwa Prison, helping born-again Christians grow spiritually.
