Kabale Hopeful Chairperson Banga Vows to Rebuild Obote-Era Infrastructure

KABALE, UGANDA – The hopeful Kabale District Chairperson, Hon. Owomugisha Donozio Banga, has announced plans to overhaul the district’s ageing infrastructure, much of which dates back to the regimes of former Presidents Milton Obote and Idi Amin.

Addressing a rally of electors over the weekend at the Kitumba Sub-County headquarters in Karubanda, Banga declared that the current state of public buildings is outdated, inadequate, and unfit for modern service delivery.

“Our district’s main administrative hub, the Kabale District headquarters, and many other buildings were constructed during Obote’s era. They do not meet current building standards and must be reconstructed for the 21st century,” Banga stated.

He emphasized that the issue extends beyond the district headquarters to include sub-county and town council offices, which require immediate expansion from their cramped spaces to adequately accommodate both civil servants and the public.

Hon. Banga extended his vision to economic revitalization, pledging to aggressively advocate for the establishment of factories within Kabale District to tackle youth unemployment.

“Our district is sitting on untapped mineral wealth. We have iron ore in our hills, and limestone rocks that can be used to make chalk, cement, and more. We only need the will and investment to unlock these resources for job creation and local development,” Banga asserted.

He further highlighted a pre-election achievement, announcing successful lobbying efforts that will see the establishment of new secondary schools within the district a move aimed at improving access to quality education.

This forms part of his broader, comprehensive plan to uplift the education sector, ensuring that infrastructure development is matched by human capital investment.

Hon. Banga’s campaign is now taking this message of comprehensive modernization spanning infrastructure, industry, and education across the district as he seeks to unseat the incumbent in the upcoming elections.
