According to Deputy Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Oweyesigyire, the operations are targeted at known criminal black spots and are part of sustained efforts to dismantle networks involved in narcotic abuse, robberies, and other unlawful activities.

“These operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks engaged in narcotic abuse, robberies, and other unlawful activities,” ASP Oweyesigyire stated.

In Nansana Division, eight suspects were arrested in a pre-dawn operation on October 30th and were found in possession of suspected narcotics, with their prosecution now pending.

A subsequent operation in Nakawa Division on October 31st led to the apprehension of sixteen individuals from criminal hideouts, who face charges for narcotics possession and public nuisance.

The most significant haul occurred in Old Kampala Division, where forty-eight suspects were arrested across two operations and are now undergoing screening before being arraigned in court.

Alongside enforcement, the Police are emphasizing preventive measures, exemplified by a community policing drive conducted in Bulabira Kalitunsi, Najjera, on October 29.

During the outreach, residents were sensitized on critical issues such as neighborhood watch initiatives, crime prevention, domestic violence, and electoral offences.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police leadership has commended the cooperation of the public and local leaders, crediting their active participation for the success of the operations.

Authorities are encouraging citizens to remain alert and continue sharing credible intelligence to work collaboratively towards sustained peace and security in the region.
