Kisoro, Uganda – With just hours remaining until the NRM Party elections for sub-county and town council Local Council positions, Kisoro District NRM Registrar Mujambere Tadeo has issued a strong warning to aspiring candidates against attempting to bribe electoral registrars.

Speaking at a press briefing held today, August 13, 2025, at his office in Kisoro Municipality, Mujambere revealed that some LC3 chairperson aspirants for sub-counties and mayoral candidates for town councils have attempted to bribe registrars, a move that could disrupt the electoral process.

He emphasized that such actions risk undermining the integrity of the official voter register and firmly stated that only individuals whose names appear on the register will be permitted to vote.

To ensure a smooth and transparent exercise, Mujambere added that polling and election officers would undergo thorough training ahead of the election.

He further urged voters to arrive early at their designated polling stations, as verification using the voters’ register will be the first step in the process.

The registrar also cautioned the public against instigating chaos, engaging in violence, or making threats, warning that such misconduct could lead to the suspension or cancellation of election results in affected areas.

Mujambere stressed that upholding the credibility of the electoral process is paramount and that any attempts to manipulate the system will face severe penalties.

The warning comes amid heightened political activity in Kisoro District as candidates make last-minute efforts to mobilize support ahead of tomorrow’s polls, Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Authorities have stepped up security across the district to prevent disruptions and ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process.
