Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s weather experts under the Department of Meteorological Services (DMS) have predicted significant rainfall and varying temperatures across the country from 11th to 20th August 2025.
According to the 10-day weather forecast bulletin, wet conditions are expected nationwide, with moderate rainfall in most southern regions.
Meanwhile, areas such as Karamoja, Mt. Elgon, and West Nile could experience very heavy rains, potentially triggering flooding.
Temperatures will vary across regions, ranging from below 8°C in the high mountains of Rwenzori and Mt. Elgon, to 16-20°C in southern areas, 20-24°C in most places, and 24-28°C near the River Nile and Lake Albert.
The heavy rains may lead to flooding, road damage, and water contamination. Lightning strikes and fog could also disrupt travel, while some bridges may be washed away, isolating certain communities.
Farmers are urged to weed their crops and monitor pests, as the rains will benefit agriculture.Communities are advised to harvest rainwater, plant trees, and ensure safe drinking water to prevent waterborne diseases.
Urban authorities should prioritize clearing blocked drainage systems to prevent road flooding, while drivers are cautioned to exercise extreme care in foggy conditions to ensure road safety.
The bulletin emphasizes the importance of timely hazard reporting and adherence to safety guidelines to mitigate risks during this period.
