Masaka, Uganda – The Mawogola South Member of Parliament, Hon. Gorreth Namuga, has confirmed that the Masaka main Prison health facility may not offer the required treatment for Eddie Sebuwufu, also known as Eddie Mutwe.

This statement was made after Hon. Namuga, along with Masaka City Mayor Florence Namayanja, and others paid a visit to Eddie Mutwe, who was remanded to Masaka Prison by the court on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Masaka Magistrate Abdallah Kaiza ordered Mutwe’s medical treatment after his court appearance without legal representation, following nine days in military detention after an abduction in Mukono district.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, after the visit, Hon. Gorreth Namuga said that the prison facility would not manage Eddie’s deteriorating situation, saying that he may need to be taken to a hospital for further management.

“Eddie Mutwe’s situation may not be managed by the Masaka Prison health facility. He needs proper and good hospitals to work on him. It’s quite absurd that people with blood and proper thinking could inflict such harm on him,” said Hon. Namuga.

The Mayor, Florence Namayanja, told the media that Sebuwufu has wounds all over his body, painfully sustained due to alleged torture by the army.

“Eddie Mutwe is in full pain with wounds all over his body. I can imagine if these people who treated him this way were treated the same. Like any person, Eddie needs to be rushed to a good hospital for management,” said Florence Namayanja.

Eddie Mutwe, also known as Eddie Sebuwufu, faces charges of robbery, assault, damage to property, and other offenses.

Also the head of security for NUP President Robert Kyaguranyi Ssentamu, Mutwe is scheduled to reappear in court on May 25, 2025.
