Kasese, Uganda – The Kasese Police have issued a stern warning to motorists and pedestrians to abide by traffic rules and regulations, following a tragic road collision that occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Rugendabara, along the Fort Portal-Kasese Road.

According to sources, a motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFX 533R, was traveling from Fort Portal towards Kasese when it collided with a female pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese.

The Hima Division Police Department, led by DPC SP Bwire Nerima Suzan, responded promptly to the scene to investigate.

Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed that the identities of those involved have not been disclosed pending further investigation.

SP Tumushime issued a cautionary statement, urging all road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents.

“We kindly continue to appeal to all road users, both motorists and pedestrians, to abide by traffic rules and regulations as provided for by the law, lest they will be arrested and prosecuted in courts of law,” SP Tumushime said.

The police urge continued vigilance on the roads to prevent further accidents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations for road safety.
