A tragedy; Three people Killed in Kanungu District. Police have one Suspect in Custody.

KANUNGU: The territorial police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances under which three people were allegedly murdered.

According to the Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate the incident started after residents within Katete Sub County learnt that their village mate identified as Arinaitwe Simple 45 was discovered dead lying along the road.

It’s said that Arinaitwe a resident of Ibumbwe village Kishuro Parish in Katete Sub County was last seen at around 10:30 AM on Tuesday together with Godfrey Kamugisha a teacher, Innocent Tayebwa and Dickson Tayebwa at Kojo’s bar.

The following day at around 06:00 AM the dead body of Arinaitwe was discovered lying along Mutojo-Ibumbwe Road and when people got Arinaitwe’s death news suspected his former company, went wild, apprehended Godfrey Kamugisha and during interrogation Godfrey revealed his other associates and was lynched.

Maate said that the Police were alerted, rushed to the scene, found Godfrey already dead and rescued Innocent Tayebwa in critical condition who died moments later from Kambuga hospital where he was rushed.

The murder of Arinaitwe Simple is believed to have been linked to his money because he was dealing in a business of buying and selling cattle ahead of him being a money lender.

The Police Mouse Piece charged People to desist from Acts of lawlessness, instead work with relevant offices to arrest suspected criminals and hand them over to police for legal action.

A Triple Murder case has been registered at Kihiihi Police Station on CRBs 165/2024 and 168/2024 with one suspect arrested to help in investigations as more inquiries are underway.
