Jackline Tukamushaba of Rukiga named Deputy President of NUP Party Western Uganda.

NATIONAL: The Rukiga district home girl Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba has been appointed Deputy President of the National Unity Platform-NUP in charge of Western Uganda.

Jacqueline Tukamushaba, who is also vying for the woman MP Rukiga district is slated to replace the late Jolly Mugisha who passed on last year according to the party announcement.

She was appointed along with the Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi who has been appointed Deputy President of the National Unity Platform-NUP for the Buganda Region.

In her remarks Tukamushaba, emphasized the importance of developing courage and resilience in the fight for freedom, not just for themselves, but for all Ugandan who see NUP as their only hope for a better future.

“People are looking up to us as a new source of hope, as a new saviour. When the time comes to go out and vote, let us make our voices heard. After all, if we speak out, we risk persecution, but if we stay silent, we will still suffer. So, let us fight for our freedom while we still have the opportunity.” Said Jackline Tukamushaba.

Meanwhile the President Hon. Kyaguranyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine implored the appointed comrades to always put service to the people ahead of everything else, reminding them that they are servants of the people and not the other round.

Kyaguranyi condemned the trial of civilians in military tribunals and spoke about the plight of political prisoners languishing in regime prisons.

He has tasked the Leader of our Parliamentary front Rt. Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi initiates a Private Members’ Bill to amend the existing law to give people charged in military courts the right to appeal to civilian courts.
