After calculating handicaps, Kemigisha was declared winner of the Ladies’ Category and the overall champion of the entire field, covering both Ladies’ and Men’s categories. The final results were announced during a dinner organized by Kigali Golf Resort & Villas on the evening of July 4, 2026.
Silver Mubangizi from Mbarara Sports Club finished as the first runner-up with 41 points, while Moses Muhumuza of Kabale Sports Club secured third place with 40 points.
Kemigisha, who hails from Lower Bugongi, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality, began her professional golf career in 2013. She expressed joy about her victory, noting that she had won several tournaments before but never on foreign soil.
“I am so happy and thankful to God that I have finally been able to win abroad, and on one of the most beautiful golf courses in East Africa,” she said during a media interview.

She also shared that her late father, Gideon Mugabirwe, was a golfer, and she used to hold his bag and clubs whenever he went out to play.

Kemigisha pointed out that golf is often perceived as a game for the wealthy back home in Kabale District, but she dismissed this misconception.
“It’s just a mindset rooted in wrong perceptions,” she said, calling on more women to participate in the sport.

However, she emphasized that playing golf at a professional level requires dedication and consistency, especially for those aspiring to pursue it as a career.“
I have been playing golf since 2013. I took a break in 2020 to focus on an important life matter, but I resumed in 2022. My next big stage was Kigali in 2023, where I came in third position,” she explained.
Kemigisha dedicated her victory to Kabale Sports Club and particularly the 20 members of the club who participated in the Kigali Golf Tournament.
“The overall win is mine, but it was a collective effort by the group that supported me through the tournament, so the win is theirs too,” she said.
