KAMPALA – Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has proposed DNA testing on the three brothers of the late Paul Kafeero to determine whether they fathered any of the 21 claimants rejected by recent paternity results on the late singer’s alleged children.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The development follows the release of the long-awaited DNA test results for the late Kadongo Kamu legend, Prince Job Paul Kafeero, which were unveiled on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Police Headquarters in Naguru.
The definitive scientific findings, presented by the Uganda Police Forensic Directorate, revealed that out of 25 individuals claiming to be Kafeero’s biological children, only four are his actual offspring.
The stunning revelation has upended a multi-billion estate battle that has raged for nearly two decades and triggered a profound national debate on genetics, facial resemblances, and paternal trust.
The forensic report confirmed the biological heirs as Simon Peter Kafeero, Elizabeth Nagawa, Thomas Swazi Kafeero (Schwarz), and Benedict Kafeero (Dube).
The remaining 21 claimants were scientifically excluded, a result that shocked many, particularly because several of those disqualified bear a striking physical resemblance to the late “Walumbe Zaaya” singer.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa voiced skepticism over the paternity findings, proposing DNA testing on the late Kafeero’s three brothers, Abubaker Nende, Simon Kafeero, and Vincent Mende, to uncover whether they are responsible for the 21 disqualified claimants.
The Deputy Speaker has also appealed to Minister Balaam Barugahara to oversee the process, insisting that complete resolution is necessary to address the lingering doubts surrounding the rejected individuals who resemble the late musician.
“I propose we go ahead and do DNA with the rest of Kafeero’s brothers to close this chapter. Otherwise that resemblance cannot be wished away, comrade Atenyi. Total closure of this matter is needed, especially for those children who are total photocopies of the late. Who fathered them? I trust you on handling such complicated matters and I’m sure you will handle it,” Tayebwa posted on X.
Barugahara vigorously defended the paternity findings, confirming that three independent laboratories, including MBN Laboratory, Police Forensic Laboratory, and the Government Analytical Laboratory, verified the results to ensure absolute certainty.
The Minister further made a cryptic reference to one of Kafeero’s songs, which many interpreted as a suggestion that children born from unfaithful unions may not be biologically related to their purported fathers.
“Better, my brother Thomas. Three independent laboratories have confirmed this fact, not just one: MBN Laboratory, Police Forensic Laboratory, and the Government Analytical Laboratory. These are verified findings. However, the late Paul sang a song that many should listen to carefully and reflect upon,” Balaam replied.
Unconvinced by the finality of the laboratory reports, Tayebwa jokingly noted that the outcome creates an existential worry for many children across the country.
“I do not doubt science, but if this gentleman is not Paul Kafeero’s son, then we might need to do DNA of our parents when they’re still alive. Cheeii!!!” Tayebwa fired back.
The scientific breakthrough followed a dramatic turn of events when Kafeero’s remains were exhumed from his resting place in Buikwe District following a strict court order to obtain viable bone and tissue samples.
Paul Job Kafeero, who tragically passed away on May 17, 2007, at the age of 36 due to complications from kidney failure, remains one of the most influential figures in Ugandan music history.
