BUSHENYI, UGANDA – Renowned journalist Twinomugisha Felix, popularly known as Ekirengabazaana, has been released from Nyamushekyera Prison after spending months on remand over family-related disputes.

The Managing Editor and CEO of The Server Uganda (www.theserverug.com) and a senior journalist at 87.6 Crane FM in Ishaka walked free on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The court ruled that there was no basis to proceed with the case brought against him by his mother and siblings.

He was arrested in mid-December 2025 and had been held at Nyamushekyera Prison in Bushenyi District pending trial over what sources describe as internal family affairs.

However, in what appears to be a reconciliation within the family, his mother reportedly forgave him, paving the way for the court to dismiss the case and order his immediate release.

Presiding over the matter, the magistrate noted that with the complainant having withdrawn the case, there was no basis to continue holding the journalist.

The development brings to an end Felix’s prolonged stay behind bars, during which his audience and readers missed his distinctive voice and compelling storytelling.

Felix is widely known for his engaging and educational programs on Crane Radio, including the popular World News Show and RR News, which have cultivated a loyal following in the Greater Bushenyi region and beyond.

As the Managing Editor of The Server Uganda, an online news platform, he has also made significant contributions to digital journalism, covering stories that matter to the local community with depth and accuracy.

When contacted for a comment following his release, Felix confirmed the development to this website but declined to give further details.

“I can only confirm that I am out, but I am not yet ready to comment further,” he said briefly.

Colleagues and friends who have spoken to him describe him as being in good spirits and eager to return to his professional duties after the long judicial ordeal.

His release has been met with relief among fellow journalists, the media fraternity in the region, and his loyal audience who had been praying and advocating for his freedom.
