KABALE – Police have directed school administrations to strengthen access controls and promptly report strangers on school premises, following the alleged kidnapping incidents registered within the Kigezi sub-region.

In a press statement issued by the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, two kidnapping incidents involving learners and children have been registered in the region.
According to Nelson Tumushime, on the morning of 30th September 2026, a kidnap case occurred in Kigongi Ward, Central Division, in Kabale Municipality; however, the victim was later recovered.
The police spokesperson added that there was another alleged kidnap of a 14-year-old in Bubaare Town Council, with the police tightening their enforcement, still tracing and containing the culprits.
Following the incidents, the Police have since assured the public, school administrators, and learners that intelligence-led operations have been intensified, with patrols continuing in and around schools.
The police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, has confirmed to the press that the Police are closely working with school authorities, local leaders, and other sister security agencies to verify all reported cases in the region.

Meanwhile, parents have been urged to ensure children move in groups and to report any suspicious persons around their schools, while school administrations have been advised to strengthen access controls around school premises.
Boda boda riders and the public have been encouraged to provide credible information to the Police, with a strong warning that individuals spreading false alarms will be arrested and prosecuted in the courts of law.
