Reliable sources alleged that the duo were at the village trading centre when Emmanuel picked a quarrel with Justus, who later stabbed him in the chest with a knife, killing him instantly.
However, the shock and rage of the local community boiled over as residents, acting on impulse, surrounded Akandwanaho Justus and lynched him on the spot, leaving him dead instantly.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, strongly condemned the residents for taking the law into their own hands, saying they should always trust the country’s functioning justice system.
He also confirmed that detectives are already on the ground gathering evidence and called upon anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station.
“We condemn mob justice because we have a functioning legal system. People must always trust the justice system established by law. Investigations are ongoing, and we urge anyone with helpful information to report to the nearest police station,” stated Tumushime.
Meanwhile, the bodies of both deceased have been conveyed to a nearby mortuary for post-mortem examinations as forensic teams work to piece together the exact timeline of events.
