The charge was issued by Vice Chancellor of Team University, Prof. Lutaro Bbosa, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, while speaking at the 16th graduation ceremony of Team University.

The event, held at the Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Kampala, saw a total of 1,341 students receive their awards in different academic fields from the university.

Out of 1,341 graduates, 562 were female (42%) and 779 male (58%), earning a total of 211 Master’s degrees, 495 Bachelor’s degrees, 180 Postgraduate Diplomas, 255 Diplomas, and 200 Certificates.

Prof. Lutaro Bbosa congratulated parents and guardians for their sacrifice, love, and support in paying tuition fees, while warning graduates against selling their futures for temporary rewards instead of upholding integrity and character.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged alumni to embrace education as the cornerstone investment in their homes, identify local challenges and opportunities, and use their knowledge to bring meaningful change.

“Your certificate opens the door, but your character keeps you in the room. Do not sell your integrity for short-term gains. Rather, use your education to identify community challenges, practice accountability, and become the change agent your society desperately needs,” Prof. Bbosa charged.

Presiding over the ceremony, Chancellor Prof. Tarasis Kabwegyere praised the graduates for their resilience, innovation, and leadership, which enabled them to perform exceptionally well despite challenges.

He warned graduates that their degrees are only as valuable as the character behind them, urging them to use their skills to transform community livelihoods, maintain discipline, and be accountable to their communities.

“Your resilience, innovation, and leadership have brought you this far, but remember: your degree is only as valuable as the character behind it. Go forth and use your skills to transform community livelihoods, uphold discipline, and remain accountable to the people you serve,” remarked Prof. Kabwegyere.

The ceremony’s chief guest, Richard Byarugaba, Executive Director of Finance at the Bank of Uganda, challenged graduates to cultivate respect, hard work, and a positive attitude while being problem solvers in their communities who embrace innovation and value addition.

Byarugaba further appreciated Team University for becoming a center of ethics and transformation, restoring hope in the young generation by providing empowerment opportunities and skills.

Chairperson of the Team University Council, the Most Rev. Dr. Leonard Lubega, warned new graduates against the evils of corruption, drug abuse, sexual abuse, and alcoholism if they wish to build a strong future.

He proudly noted that the university has grown into a center of academic excellence, producing skilled, modern, and upright citizens who contribute to community development through research and innovation.
