This followed his swearing-in ceremony, along with 15 councilors, at an event held at the Kashenshero Playground and presided over by the Mitooma Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, John Kanyihamba.

After the administration of the oath, Mayor Asiimwe gave his first speech, which focused on unity and inclusivity. He declared that the town council belongs to all residents and must serve everyone equally.

He thanked his predecessor, Edgar Arinda Rwambika, for laying the groundwork and pledged to work closely with councilors and technocrats to improve service delivery.

Asiimwe further urged the newly sworn-in councilors to set aside personal ambitions and partisan divisions, warning against personalizing offices and stressing that all stakeholders must be included to ensure quality services for the people.

“This town council belongs to all of us. We must set aside personal ambitions, abandon divisions, and work together so that every resident receives the service they deserve. Leadership is about bringing everyone on board for Kashenshero’s development,” stated the Mayor.

Outgoing Mayor Edgar Arinda Rwambika appealed to the new leadership to uphold integrity, avoid undermining the electorate, and practice inclusivity by serving everyone without discrimination.

He further encouraged the councilors to work diligently for the people they represent and to focus on development as a pathway to maintaining leadership status for future opportunities.

“Uphold integrity and serve everyone without discrimination. Work for the people you represent, and let development be your pathway to future leadership,” stated Edgar.

Meanwhile, John Jackson Betegyerize was elected Speaker and will be deputized by Daphine Kihembo, while Mary Karungi assumed the role of Vice Chairperson.

Deputy Mayor Mary Karungi will double as Secretary for Production, while Hon. Brian was named Secretary for Finance, and Diana Agabirwe will serve as Secretary for Social Services.

The function attracted a vibrant cross-section of the community, including local leaders and clergy, as well as a large gathering of the public, whose presence underscored the deep community interest in the future trajectory of the town council.
