The event commenced with a solemn mass led by Msgr. John Vianney Sunday, Vicar General of the Kabale Diocese. He presided over both the mass and the oath-taking ceremony for the incoming S.1 and S.5 students.

Msgr. Vianney Sunday was assisted by Rev. Fr. Kenneth Birungi and Rev. Fr. Christopher Busingye, the school’s Executive Director. During his address, the Vicar General emphasized the importance of integrity and fairness, urging students to uphold these virtues throughout their academic journey.

Following the mass, the school held its traditional awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding UCE and UACE top performers of the 2025 academic year.

Top performers included Tony Ssekajja, who scored 19 points at UACE, and Mevius Akatambira, who obtained five A’s and four B’s at UCE.

Other high achievers included Judith Niwandinda, Victory Orishaba, Christian Ainembabazi, Ekyatuheire Mary Odeith, Prudence Tushabomwe, Patricia Arinaitwe, Vanessa Ainembabazi, and Kukudakwe Bernadette.

In an expression of gratitude, school officials announced that all top UCE students had enrolled again for A’Level at Nyabikoni S.S., indicating confidence that they woul continue to excel at a school that helped them achieve excellent grades in O’Level.

The ceremony then transitioned into the official initiation and inauguration of the new students. S.1 and S.5 students took their oaths, pledging to abide by the school’s rules, uphold discipline, and strive for academic excellence. This tradition, observed annually for the past 24 years, aims to instill the school’s core values and foster a sense of belonging among students.

Officiating as the Chief Guest, Ms. Agnes Asiimwe, Inspector of Schools for Kabale Municipality, hailed  Nyabikoni S.S. for maintaining high academic and discipline standards, creating a bullying-free environment.

“I have heard from the S.1 students’ speech that they have not faced any teasing here, which is commendable because such behavior has ruined many schools,” she remarked. Ms. Asiimwe added that Kabale Municipal Council was proud of Nyabikoni S.S. as one of the best-performing secondary schools in the area.

Named St. Jacenta Jack and Jil Annex, the new primary  school aims to provide quality education to children in rural communities at a lower cost, reflecting the priest’s desire to leave a lasting legacy in education.

Fr. Busingye reaffirmed the school’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and community development. He also shared that the following year, Nyabikoni Secondary School would  celebrate  25 years of existence and the relentless tradition of  shaping influential individuals, while contributing positively to the educational landscape of Greater Kabale District and beyond.
