According to Norah’s accounts, her son, Andrew, was involved in an accident in the early hours of December 5, 2025, when his motorcycle was struck by a speeding UEDCL vehicle (UAB 474F) near the Old Market in Kisoro Municipality along the Kisoro–Kabale road.
Andrew, who was riding motorcycle UEL 814C, was rushed to St. Francis Mutolere Hospital, where doctors discovered the severe extent of his injuries.
Medical personnel at the facility advised an immediate transfer to a specialized hospital in the Kampala-Entebbe area for advanced bone treatment following critical injuries on both legs.
However, his transfer and discharge are currently impossible with an outstanding balance of over UGX 13,232,000 as of a formal medical bill issued on February 20, 2026, at the current admission.
Andrew remains confined to the hospital, his condition caught in a limbo of administrative and financial constraints as the family must ensure the balance is settled to make his transfer and discharge possible.
The distraught widowed Norah is desperately appealing for financial assistance from the community, well-wishers, local leaders, and the implicated company to secure the discharge of her son.
She described her son as her primary source of support before the accident robbed her of both her caregiver and livelihood. She now grieves that neither can support the other, left with nothing but a plea for help.
Efforts to reach UEDCL for comment on the alleged hit-and-run and the family’s plight were unsuccessful by press time, leaving their calls for answers unanswered.
