Reliable sources indicate that Mbabazi was last seen alive at her home with her two-month-old baby on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6, 2025.
The following evening, Sunday, December 7, 2025, her lifeless body was discovered inside the house, hanging from a piece of lesu (cloth).
The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that after being notified, police visited, processed, and documented the crime scene and recorded witness statements.
Maate added that a critical examination revealing a deep stab wound to the neck has raised suspicion that she was killed first and her body was then carefully staged to appear as a hanging.
He further noted that officers searching the vicinity recovered a knife with suspected bloodstains outside the homestead’s compound, which has been secured as evidence.
A police dog was deployed to the scene and its tracking led to the arrest of a suspect, who is pending thorough questioning by a team of investigators.
The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary to await a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide definitive findings on the cause of death.
