The launch of President Museveni’s campaign rally in Rukiga District on Tuesday, November 25, 2024, was marked by a moment of solemnity as Rev. Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda commended the leader “into the hands of God.”

The President was informed by the Rukiga NRM Party Chairperson, Frank Kyerere that the prominent Catholic priest, one of the diocese’s longest-serving church leaders, who had pledged to rally behind him in the upcoming general elections, was present in the audience.

During his speech, Kyerere went on to highlight key development needs for the district, including tarmacking the Muhanga-Kisiizi Road and securing funding for a hospital.

Fr. Batanyenda then laid his hands on President Museveni’s head, praying for his continued leadership and for the country to be governed under the NRM’s new slogan of “protecting the gains.”

In his address, President Museveni pledged to fulfill the district’s development requests in his new term, reaffirming his commitment to the people of Uganda.

He emphasized that the 2026 to 2031 NRM Manifesto represents a strategic continuation of the nation’s journey towards sustainable peace, development, and prosperity, a mission rooted in the paramount value of peace.
