RUKIGA, UGANDA – The Rukiga Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited (SACCO) has launched its 2025 Festival Giveback Bonanza, a multi-faceted program aimed at rewarding its loyal clients with a strong focus on enhancing road safety for Boda Boda cyclists.

The bonanza was officially launched on Thursday, November 6, 2025, with the distribution of reflector jackets to cyclists at various Boda Boda stages within the Muhanga Trading Center in Rukiga District.

The General Manager of Rukiga SACCO, Medius Kabajurizi, who was present to oversee the distribution, confirmed that the initiative is a gesture of gratitude to their customers ahead of the Christmas festivities.

Kabajurizi outlined that a key component of the giveback bonanza is a reduction in the new account opening fee from 20,000 UGX to 15,000 UGX to make their services more accessible.

Emphasizing the critical road safety aspect of the campaign, Kabajurizi explained the rationale behind distributing reflector jackets.

“We distributed reflector jackets to Boda Boda cyclists to ensure their safety on the road during the Christmas period. With increased travel and traffic, visibility is key to preventing accidents and ensuring everyone arrives home safely to celebrate with their families,” stated Kabajurizi.

Furthermore, in a move demonstrating deep community care, Rukiga SACCO has wider plans to visit elderly persons and clients with disabilities at their homes with various gift hampers between 23rd and 24th December 2025.

The initiative was met with immense appreciation from the beneficiaries, who also took the opportunity to laud Rukiga SACCO for its transformative impact on their lives and businesses.

Edward Kabureta, a Boda Boda cyclist at the Muhanga-Kisizi Stage, credited Rukiga SACCO with enabling him to secure and pay for his own motorcycle through a manageable loan.

Another cyclist, Amon Katwesigye, contrasted his current financial security with his past struggles of keeping cash at home, which led to theft and other financial hazards.

He, along with his colleagues, confirmed that the SACCO has revolutionized their approach to saving and financial management.

“Rukiga SACCO has opened our minds to saving, which has helped us pay for the school fees of our children and in sustaining our families. It’s more than just a SACCO; it’s a partner in our development,” Edward and Amon confirmed.
