RUKIGA, UGANDA – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Hon. Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Mwanaki, was met with a surge of support on Thursday as she was officially nominated for the Rukiga Woman Member of Parliament seat.

Unveiling a clear vision focused on grassroots economic empowerment, Dr. Mwanaki stated her main objective is to drive socio-economic transformation in the district.
Her plan includes supporting farmers with high-yield seedlings and mobilizing communities to adopt a culture of savings through Village Savings and Loan Associations.
She also expressed confidence in the NRM government’s infrastructure plan, endorsing the party manifesto as a blueprint to deliver hospitals, schools, and roads to Rukiga.
Highlighting party unity, Dr. Mwanaki thanked her former NRM rivals for avoiding independent bids, stating their unity strengthens the party and prevents the divisions seen in other races.
Dr. Mwanaki was accompanied at the nomination centre by her husband, Prof. Henry Mwanaki, and the district NRM leadership led by Chairperson Frank Kyerere, signaling a united front as the campaign season begins.
