KISORO, UGANDA – Bufumbira South Legislator, Hon. Eng. Alex Niyonsaba Seruganda, has announced plans to formally engage State House Uganda to include Pentecostal church bishops in its vehicle donation programme.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The revelation was made over the weekend by the legislator’s political assistant, Mr. Martin Hakizimana, during a colourful thanksgiving and fundraising ceremony at Mubuga Pentecostal Church in Bufumbira South Constituency.
The event was organised to raise funds for a vehicle for Rt. Rev. Jonas Maniragaba, the newly consecrated Bishop of the Kigezi Sub-region Pentecostal churches.
Bishop Maniragaba, who was elevated to the bishopric on 16th February 2025 in Nyarushangye, Rukungiri District, has been facing significant challenges in overseeing his diocese, often traveling on foot to navigate the region’s difficult terrain.
Speaking on behalf of the MP, Hakizimana highlighted Hon. Seruganda’s longstanding concern over what he perceives as an imbalance in State House’s support for religious leaders.
“The MP is preparing to formally ask State House why it donates vehicles to Anglican and Catholic bishops, but excludes Pentecostal leaders, to ensure they are also considered,” Hakizimana stated.

To kickstart the immediate solution, Hakizimana presented an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash from MP Seruganda as a personal contribution towards the bishop’s vehicle.
The former Bufumbira South legislator, Sam Kwizera Bitangaro, represented by Mr. Nizeye Goffrey, urged Christians to foster unity and focus on development initiatives. In a show of solidarity, he contributed UGX 1 million to the cause.

In his remarks, Bishop Maniragaba expressed profound gratitude to the congregation and the leaders for their generosity and commitment to supporting his ministry.
“I am deeply humbled by this show of love and support. Once this vehicle is acquired, I pledge to use it to serve all Christians across the entire region without any discrimination,” the Bishop stated.
The function was a resounding success, with a total of UGX 8.7 million collected in cash and an additional UGX 2 million pledged, bringing the total close to UGX 10.7 million for the bishop’s vehicle.
