NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – The Senior Presidential Advisor on Agriculture, Dr. Peace Rugambwa Twinamatsiko, has expressed concern over the poor remuneration of journalists and media practitioners, saying that they have been relegated to abject poverty across the country.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Peace, also the Chairperson of the Boona Bagyagahare Nyekundire Group in the Ankole and Kigezi regions, stressed that many journalists have been used by self-seeking politicians who give them gifts and favors instead of empowering them with sustainable skills.
She made the remarks on Sunday during an engagement with journalists and social media influencers from 18 districts in South Western Uganda at her residence in Nyabugando village, Kyobwe ward, Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council, Ntungamo District.
Peace Rugambwa further urged Ugandans to support President Yoweri Museveni’s initiatives and actively participate in government programs aimed at boosting productivity and eradicating poverty at the household level.
She lashed out at some journalists and social media influencers who are fond of calling politicians to beg for daily sustenance.
Peace also urged them to join the Boona Bagyagahare Nyekundire group and pledged to lobby for an injection of about UGX 300 million for the socio-economic transformation of journalists in the Western Region.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Kigezi Affairs, Tycoon George William Katagizi, advised the public to mobilize support for the NRM and President Museveni, noting that he is a beacon of peace and security.
Boona Bagyagahare Nyekundire group is a community project in Uganda aimed at fighting poverty, particularly in the western part of the country.
