The deceased has been identified as Tamukunzi Gerivazio, a resident of Nyakagyera Cell, Kafunjo Parish, in the Kashambya Sub-County of Rukiga District.

The body was discovered on the morning of October 15, 2025, along the Nyakarambi-Nyakagyera road, just hours after he was last seen alive at a local bar on the night of Monday, October 14.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that after the alarm was raised by local area chairperson Denis Muyambi, a team of police officers immediately responded to the scene.

“The scene was visited, processed, and documented by our officers as part of the standard procedure for a case of this nature,” stated Maate.

The body has been transferred to Kabale Referral Hospital for a postmortem to establish the cause of death. While police are investigating the case as a suspected murder, the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Police have appealed for public cooperation, urging anyone with information about the victim’s activities on the night of October 14 to come forward as inquiries continue.

“We are urging anyone with information regarding Mr. Gerivazio’s activities on the night of October 14 or any other details that could assist this investigation to come forward and speak to the police,” Maate stated.

The investigation continues, attempting to bring clarity to a tragedy that has left the entire community reeling in shock and mourning.
