Following his nomination, President Museveni was briefed on Electoral Commission guidelines and provided with campaign vehicles a Toyota Land Cruiser and a double-cabin pickup for his security team’s use, a move aimed at promoting fairness and ensuring safety during the campaign period.
Addressing the media shortly after the event, President Museveni expressed gratitude to the Electoral Commission for approving his candidature and to the NRM party for its continued trust.
He outlined key campaign pillars, urging Ugandans to create wealth through four primary sectors: commercial agriculture (emphasizing “ekibaro”), manufacturing, artisanship, and private services such as hotels, transport, tourism, and ICT.
On public health, President Museveni stated that the NRM’s integrated health plan aims to decongest regional hospitals by expanding essential services like immunization, nutrition, and hygiene to the sub-county level through strengthened Health Center IIIs.
Earlier in the day, Justice Byabakama had announced that the Electoral Commission will meet all presidential candidates or their agents from September 25 to 27 to harmonize campaign programs, ensuring an orderly process following the nomination exercise.
With his nomination secured, President Museveni now begins the formal campaign period, seeking to extend his tenure, which began in 1986.
