Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport recorded a significant increase in passenger traffic, handling an unprecedented 230,577 travelers in July 2025.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) official traffic report, the record-breaking month saw 119,127 arriving passengers and 111,450 departing passengers, resulting in a daily average of 7,437 travelers.
The figures revealed a notable trend of arrivals surpassing departures, eclipsing the previous record set in December 2024, when 222,301 passengers were facilitated with a daily average of 7,171.
Aviation and tourism analysts attribute the surge in traffic to a combination of factors, including the CHAN 2024 football tournament, which kicked off in Uganda in late July, and the government’s “Explore Uganda” tourism campaign.
The month also hosted several high-profile international conferences and business summits in Kampala, attracting global delegates.
While passenger traffic dominated headlines, Entebbe International Airport’s cargo wing showed robust performance, handling 5,863 metric tonnes of air freight in July 2025.
Exports totaled 3,961 metric tonnes, mainly Ugandan agricultural produce, while imports totaled 1,902 metric tonnes.
The record-breaking numbers indicate Uganda’s post-pandemic economic recovery and growing tourism and trade sectors.
