Rukiga, Uganda – The National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Kaguta Michael Niwagira (popularly known as Toyota), has urged NRM flag bearer Dr. Sylvia Tumuheirwe Alinaitwe to lead reconciliation efforts in Rukiga District following her decisive victory in the recent party primaries.

The August 11, 2025 event, which featured the blessing of the billions rated church, also served as a platform to address the contentious NRM primaries that unseated several incumbent candidates nationwide, including multiple cabinet ministers.
In Rukiga’s particularly heated race, incumbent Woman MP Hon. Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi lost the NRM ticket to Dr. Alinaitwe, who captured over 70% of the primary vote.
Toyota specifically charged Dr. Alinaitwe with the task of healing divisions and bringing all party factions together for electoral success.
The PLU vice chairman further praised Dr. Alinaitwe’s transformative coffee farming initiatives in Rukiga, forecasting substantial economic growth for the district during her anticipated term.
Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, reinforced these unity messages during his consecration sermon, denouncing political animosity while endorsing development-focused leadership.
His remarks were supported by Kigezi Diocese’s Rt. Rev. Gad Akanjuna and wife Maama Charity Akanjuna, who attended with other clergy members.
The high-profile gathering drew numerous NRM leaders including parliamentary candidate Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi (KP), LC V flag bearer Hon. Rwamaguenda, Rukiga RDC Kamusiime Zadok, and prominent local business figures.
