Entebbe Horror: Well-Respected Couple Butchered Hours After Returning From Abroad

Kampala, Uganda – A Ugandan couple was brutally murdered in their home in Entebbe shortly after their return from abroad, where they had lived for an extended period.

The couple, identified as Mutaaga David, 69, and his wife Mutaaga Deborah Florence, 62, residents of Lugonjo Nakiwogo Cell in Entebbe Municipality, were horrifically killed in an incident that occurred at around 9 p.m. on Sunday in what police are calling a targeted attack.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the alarm was raised on July 6, 2025, when a household worker reported a suspected attack at the couple’s residence.

Police swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered the elderly couple’s lifeless bodies with multiple stab wounds, as forensic teams documented evidence and collected exhibits for analysis.

The bodies were transported to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examinations to determine the exact cause of death and gather additional clues.

Owoyesigyire confirmed that investigators are examining multiple motives for the murders, including: aggravated robbery (possible theft of valuables), a targeted attack (given the violence and potential disputes), and inside involvement (as there was no forced entry).

In a strongly worded statement, Deputy Spokesperson Owoyesigyire condemned the killings: “This barbaric act shocks the conscience of our community. We condemn these brutal murders in the strongest possible terms and have mobilized all available investigative resources. Let me be clear: we will hunt down these perpetrators relentlessly, pursue every lead exhaustively, and ensure they face the full force of justice.”

Neighbors and relatives expressed deep shock at the brutal murder of the peaceful, well-respected couple – a tragedy that has sent shockwaves through Entebbe, reigniting concerns about violent crime and home security.

“They were the sort of neighbors everyone hopes for – gentle souls who kept to themselves but always had time to share a kind word. We’d see Deborah tending her flowers every morning, David reading on the porch in evenings – ordinary goodness that should have been safe from such horror,” the shaken neighbor told our reporter, speaking on condition of anonymity while nervously glancing at the now-taped-off house.

Police confirmed updates will follow as investigations progress, following a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Entebbe and reignited concerns about violent crime and home security.
