The appeal was made during a meeting at the Kisoro District Council Hall, attended by incumbent Members of Parliament, parliamentary aspirants, and NRM party officials.

The gathering aimed to establish a structured framework for the joint campaigns, ensuring a peaceful and organized process leading up to the NRM party primary elections.

Kisoro District NRM Elections Officer Tadeo Majambere emphasized the need for strict adherence to the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

He warned that no candidate would be allowed to operate outside the agreed joint campaign arrangement, stressing that those seeking to represent the people must respect the party’s rules.

In a show of cooperation, Bufumbira North MP Kamara John Nizeyimana and his rival, Fortunate Habyara Gatare, agreed to limit their joint campaigns to just three days.

Nizeyimana explained that the decision to shorten joint campaigns was made to respect voters’ time, noting that many are farmers whose daily activities could be disrupted by prolonged political rallies.

Similarly, in Bufumbira East Constituency, aspirants James Nsababuturo and Rolland Kanya Nkurumah praised the collaborative approach of the joint campaigns, pledging to keep their supporters peaceful and united.

The candidates stressed the need to maintain campaign harmony, saying peaceful engagement fosters a better electoral environment and strengthens democracy by keeping focus on issues, not division.

From Kisoro Municipality, candidates Emmanuel Maniraguha and Dr. Leo Mfitimana also committed to conducting disciplined and issue-based campaigns.

They noted that the joint campaign model not only reflects unity within the NRM but also allows voters to assess candidates fairly before making an informed choice.

The initiative is expected to minimize political tensions, promote healthy competition, and uphold the NRM’s values as the party prepares for its primaries.
