In a press release dated June 11, 2025, signed by the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Charles Olara, it is stated that the circulating reports are based on old clips being shared by unscrupulous individuals to mislead the public.

The Ministry reassures the public that there is no resurgence of COVID-19 in Uganda, with the national situation remaining stable and fully under control, thanks to constant monitoring and prompt response measures in place since the end of the major outbreak three years ago.

The Ministry confirms its continued efforts to monitor information about new strains of COVID-19 being reported in various parts of the world and is working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure the continued safety of the population.

Uganda benefits from a strong surveillance and response system, built over time, which remains fully active and capable of detecting and addressing public health threats.

The Ministry advises anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms consistent with COVID-19 to visit the nearest health facility for proper treatment and management.

Additionally, the Ministry encourages the public to maintain good hygiene practices, such as washing hands with clean water and soap or using alcohol-based sanitizers, and to stay alert to credible updates from official sources.

This is part of the Ministry’s commitment to protecting the health and well-being of all Ugandans.

The public is further advised to rely on credible sources of information and ignore unverified reports that may cause unnecessary panic.
