Mbuga-Buhayo Association Lauded for Effective Use of Government Funds

Kisoro, Uganda – The Mbuga-Buhayo PDM and UWEP Emyooga Association has been commended for effectively utilizing government funds to drive socio-economic transformation among its members.

Founded in 2018 with 13 members, primarily women, the association has leveraged government programs like UWEP to enhance financial stability and initiate income-generating projects.

At the SACCO launch ceremony held at Giseke Pentecostal Church premises on Wednesday, former Bufumbira South Member of Parliament, Hon. Sam Kwizera Bitangaro, commended the group for its exemplary utilization of government funds.

He highlighted that the SACCO’s initiatives have yielded significant results, transforming the lives of its members and contributing to poverty eradication in the local community.

Nizeyimana John, Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), praised the group for its remarkable progress, attributing its success to strategic government support.

He highlighted that, unlike many other district associations that have underutilized funds, this group has demonstrated tangible results.

Ngabo, Kisoro District PDM focal person, advised SACCO members to leverage digital savings platforms such as Wendi to enhance their savings experience.

He highlighted the benefits of modern saving practices, including improved security and efficiency, and encouraged members to embrace these innovations to propel their SACCO’s growth and financial stability.

SACCO Chairperson Nakato Diana invited the community to join and strengthen the association, highlighting the tangible benefits already realized by its members.

She noted that most members have successfully launched domestic projects and small-scale businesses, contributing to social transformation and aligning with government development goals.

Kisoro District Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Rukundo Manesi emphasized the critical role of saving in addressing poverty and domestic violence.

She urged community members to cultivate a saving culture, highlighting its potential to foster economic stability and secure a brighter future.

The association’s fundraising efforts yielded an impressive sum of over UGX 2 million, demonstrating strong community support and momentum for their initiatives.
